Would you were this crown? |
How deep is your love?
What limits have you set or boundaries have you drawn that you will not
venture beyond? Life brings hurt and
disappointment. People we love the most
have caused the deepest pain. As a
result, we build walls, hold grudges, build defense mechanisms and vow never to
allow that person into our personal space again.
Our Creator, God of the universe has the same problem
with us. He loved us, we hated Him. He gave His Son whom we crucified. But God demonstrated how deep is His love is
in Romans 5: 5b-8.
Now hope does not
disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the
Holy Spirit who was given to us. For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ
died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will
one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.
God
models for us the kind of love He has put in our hearts through the power of
the Holy Spirit. Those who claim Christ
have this kind of love if we submit to the power of the Spirit working in our
hearts. How arrogant it is to refuse to
do what Our Creator has already done for us.
While we were yet enemies, He wore a crown of thorns as He hung on the cross dying for us. That is the truest form of love. This kind of
love forgives. This kind of love
restores. This kind of love overlooks. This kind of love suffers long. This kind of love looks out for the interest
of others. Begin this Resurrection Day to share this kind of love.
