The root word for resolution is to resolve; to
determine a set course of action. A new
year is quickly approaching. Have you made
up your mind to set a course of action? Have you made a decision to find a solution to
some unresolved question in your life?
Have you decided to rectify a difficult situation? Are you determined to
make right a bad relationship? Before making
up your mind, make sure it has already been renewed.
Romans 12:1-2New King James Version (NKJV)
Living Sacrifices to God
12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
The Apostle Paul lays out his doctrinal teaching in
Romans chapters 1-11. He delineates the
mercies that God has bestowed on each of us.
Chapter 12 begins with, therefore, make up your mind. After considering what God has done on your
behalf, resolve to give yourself totally to Him. Allow the Holy Spirit to transform you from
the inside out. Doctrine must eventually
translate into a changed life. Your mind
needs to be renewed, replenished, revived and refreshed. We can all enter 2015 with our minds made up
by the power of the Spirit to do what God expects which is the least we can
do. Seriously, it’s time to make up your
mind.
