It's Not About Us

There is an advantage to living with a Pastor.  Sermons are much shorter at home.  I’m just joking.  My husband was excited about a new Messianic Jewish Synagogue in the city.  He spoke about the difference in their style of worship as compared to Christian congregations.  Messianic Jews worship God for who He is.  Christians have a tendency to worship God for what He does.  Even our prayers can become heavy on supplications and weak on adoration.  Our worship can easily shift to what has God done for me lately.  It can become about us. The psalmist exemplifies the essence of authentic worship.
Psalm 100
Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;[a]
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.

The key word throughout this passage is His presence, His people, His pasture, His gates and His courts.  Not ours but His.  We were created to worship Him.  Try falling down prostrate before Him, calling out His many names and attributes in humble submission.  Be awestruck, be amazed, and be astounded by His glory.  Transform worship from being about us to being about Him.
I hope this song inspires you to Worship!
